Wave Goodbye to the Old, Say Hello to SEF 2025: The Welcoming Wave Begins!

Starting a new period is the first challenge for any organization. There are many new faces, new rules and culture, and big responsibilities waiting ahead. Like the saying goes, “If you don’t know, you won’t love,” one of SEF's departments, Research and Development (RnD), created the program The Welcoming Wave.

The Welcoming Wave serves as the perfect moment for organizers to get to know each other, build chemistry, introduce the culture, and create a united environment for the year ahead. This is a new program from RnD that was successfully held on Saturday, February 21, 2025, at Penyetan Sambal Gami. The venue is spacious, has a green field, and many pavilions, making it a great spot for future organizational events.

Opening Remarks from the President & Vice President
Every journey needs direction from its leaders, and SEF is no different. Our incredible President and Vice President of SEF kicked off the event with a short speech titled "Not More Than 1 Minute." Through this, PVP aimed to create a more effective and efficient environment at SEF while cutting out unnecessary formalities.

Introductions Between Organizers
So many new faces? Not everyone knows each other yet? Don’t worry! The introduction session was designed so that every organizer could get to know one another better. It wasn’t just about knowing names but also understanding each person’s character, hopes, and the enthusiasm they bring. Because, after all, if you don’t know, you won’t love, right? G.A.M.E.S – Get Active, Make Experiences, Stay Fun!
Building bonds and chatting with new people doesn’t always have to be serious! There were lots of fun games that made everyone laugh and tested the endurance of each team. For example, the flour relay where some teams didn’t even want to win because they had to join in the second round. Haha, the reason? Flour relay messed up the organizers' fabulous makeup!

Gift Exchange: Surprise is Coming!
This session was highly anticipated! Each participant brought a gift with a budget of up to Rp10,000, but there was a twist—no food allowed! The fun part? Many gifts exceeded expectations, ranging from door mats, t-shirts, tumblers, puzzles, and more.

Deep Talk Time: Chat with PVP & Coordinators!
Towards the end of the event, organizers took part in a reflection session for evaluations and a two-way discussion:

Staff with PVP: The President and Vice President had a short discussion about the condition of the organizers, the challenges faced, and their plans for the future.

Staff with Coordinators: Coordinators of each department gave feedback to their staff, while also opening up space for staff to share evaluations and opinions. This session served as a bridge for better communication between coordinators and staff, ensuring every team can work at their best.

Distribution of Pins, Lanyards, and SEF PDH: Officially Part of SEF!
As a symbol of the new journey, each organizer received a pin, lanyard, and SEF PDH (uniform). It’s not just an accessory; it’s an official sign that we are part of the largest English language student organization at UNSOED.

The Beginning of an Unstoppable Wave!
SEF is not just about work and organization. It’s a place to grow, network, and create valuable experiences that push us forward. The Welcoming Wave isn’t just a formality—it’s a symbol of the start of SEF’s journey for the year ahead.
